When you contact us or request a quotation, we collect your name, telephone number, email address, property address or postcode, and details of the service you are interested in.

If we install a system for you, we also hold the installation records, equipment serial numbers, service history and any photographs taken during the survey or installation.

When you use this website we collect standard analytics data such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device type and referring source.

We use your information to respond to enquiries, prepare quotations, arrange surveys and installations, provide warranty and maintenance support, and keep records required for accounting and insurance purposes.

Our lawful bases are taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing that contract, our legitimate interests in running and improving our business, and legal obligation where records must be kept.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your details for marketing emails unless you have asked us to.

Where we install CCTV on your behalf, you — not MCD Security Systems — are normally the data controller for the footage. We configure systems to record only where needed, to avoid overlooking neighbouring property, and to retain footage for an agreed period. We will advise you on the signage, privacy notice content and access requests required by UK GDPR.

Where we maintain a system, our engineers may view footage only to diagnose a fault or as instructed by you in writing.

We share information only where necessary: with our engineers and sub-contractors carrying out work at your property, with manufacturers when registering warranties or processing equipment faults, and with our accountant and insurers. We may also disclose information where required by law.

Our website uses Google Analytics 4, which processes usage data on our behalf. Google may transfer data outside the UK under standard contractual clauses. You can opt out using browser settings or a Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Enquiry records are kept for up to three years from last contact. Installation and warranty records are kept for the life of the system plus six years. Accounting records are kept for six years as required by law. Website analytics data is retained for fourteen months.

You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to ask us to delete data we no longer need, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to receive data you provided in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at sales@mcdsecurity.co.uk. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls on our systems and encrypted storage of records.
